概要
文化・クリエイティブ産業の分野で、最先端を走り続けるニューヨークは、文化をゼロから生み出す力と、それを創意工夫により発展させていく力を両方兼ね備えている都市である。本報告書では、ニューヨークの文化・クリエイティブ産業を牽引する24人の有識者の発言を通して、文化を醸成し発信するニューヨークの現場の様子と、それらの活動が活発に起きる都市空間をいかにして作り、発展させているのかを、現地の情報を元に生き生きと伝える。この分野では、個人事業主やフリーランスが活躍していることを、「ニューヨーク版 文化・クリエイティブ産業の育ち方 その１」で明らかにしたが、その２では、都市空間に与える影響を知るべく、彼らが最も重要視するコミュニティビルディングや、エコシステムが形成される様子を中心に調査した。また注目エリアであるブルックリンついては、ブルックリン・ネイビーヤードやインダストリーシティなど、公民協働のプロジェクトに焦点を当て、紹介している。
Overview
The leading cases of the Cultural and Creative Industries in New York can provide important suggestions for Tokyo to determine its future directions. This report includes the insights and comments of 24 experts. This research study report has two parts. The first part focuses on cultural industries, mainly Broadway and the performing arts. The second part, this report, focuses on the creative industries supported by culture and new technology, specifically the urban spaces in Brooklyn that are helping spur development of those industries. These reports aim to provide information about the New York of today, which continues to be a world-leading city and is experiencing the creation of a new ecosystem.
